Sustainable furniture design fused with the Shaker esthetic: Spare, elegant and utilitarian. The straps are repurposed automotive seat belt material.  Ply-bent furniture construction is very strong so it uses minimal resources enabling the chair to be lightweight. The “ears” at the top of the back are a reference to nature and reference traditional styles. The straps contribute to the structure as they maintain tension with the wood frame, actually holding it together.  The webbing is sourced from surplus stocks of automotive seat belt material.  Wood is American Maple, sustainably sourced from FSC certified forests; adhesives and finishes are water based.
